Scheduling Difficulties

PVPA logo

Dear Students and Families,

PVPA has struggled with scheduling issues for several years now. At the core of the problem are two primary issues. The first being that we have far fewer teachers teaching classes in the first and last two blocks (A, B, G, and H). This is due to our full-time teacher hours being less than our student hours. The second issue is that our middle school schedule only allows for arts classes in a small number of blocks.

The PVPA Union has graciously agreed to some changes to our middle school schedule for the 2021-2022 school year that has helped with some of the problems we have experienced. Unfortunately, there are still some problems with student schedules that need to be addressed for this year.

Our school counselors began meeting with individual students to help adjust their schedules the week before school began. The counselors will continue to work with students to support their scheduling needs, however, they are not able to fix all of the problems inherent in our current master schedule.

The current administrative team is committed to creating a scheduling process that significantly reduces the existing problems. We will also be working with the PVPA Union to reach an agreement that includes a full-time teacher schedule that covers the full school day .  Please bear with us as we work to make course scheduling a smoother process moving forward.
