Good afternoon -
This message is for all Grade 7& 8 Students and Families.
Middle school students at PVPA will once again complete aMath and aReading screenings on September 8 and 9 during their G-block Support classes. aMath and AReading are administered using computers or tablet devices. Therefore, students are reminded to bring their charged device (with charging cord) to school along with a set of headphones on each day of testing. (We know that some students haven't received a loaner device from the school, yet. We are addressing that issue and will have some devices ready for those students.)
aMath and aReading are computer-adaptive tests (CAT). This means that each student completes different items. Students begin at the level matched to their grade levels. Once they answer initial questions matched to the grade level, new items are presented based on the accuracy of answers to the first questions. Some students will complete easier items and some will complete harder items that are based on their prior answers. After a student completes aMath and aReading once, the starting level for later administrations will be based on the score from each previous session. Using the CAT method, the aMath and aReading assessments provide a score that indicates a student's current math level.
Also, Fastbridge recommends each student run a compatibility check on their device prior to testing day. This can be accessed at https://app.fastbridge.org/diagnostics.do. Follow the instructions to Run the Compatibility Check.
