School Psychologist .80 FTE

Teachers and staff at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) provide students in grades 7-12 with a supportive and challenging environment that is responsive to multiple learning styles, emphasizes learning through the arts, and integrates critical and creative thinking throughout the curriculum. Since 1996, PVPA has prepared students for higher education by employing a rigorous, standards-based curriculum in a nurturing and collaborative environment.

 

PVPA has an opportunity for a .80 FTE School Psychologist beginning in August 2020. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who enjoys working with students in grades 7-12 and collaborating with colleagues.   As a member of the Academic Support Department, this position will be assisting in determining student needs based on evaluation outcomes and participation in the IEP process. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and screen students to assess cognitive abilities, academic achievement, and social-emotional and behavioral needs
  • Write evaluation reports including all cognitive, academic, social-emotional and behavior assessments, and recommendations for accommodations
  • Work in conjunction with the IEP Team to create IEPs for initial evaluations, annual reviews, and three-year re-evaluations
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers pertaining to student progress, behavior management techniques and establishing individualized behavioral intervention plans
  • Provide support to the school’s MTSS team
  • Coordinate outreach activities that support our students and families with, among others, pediatricians, outside counseling agencies, and agencies such as DCF, DMH, etc.
  • Perform other duties related to this job description as required by the Director of Student Services

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in school psychology approved by the National Assoc. of School Psychologists
  • MA DESE certification as a School Psychologist
  • Experience with Special Education processes (IEP meetings, documentation, initial referrals)
  • CORI check

 

Supervised by: Director of Student Services

 

Calendar:   School year (ten months)
